BioCoat™ Bioactive Resin Pit and Fissure Sealant

BioCoat is a breakthrough new bioactive resin pit and fissure sealant containing an innovative, patented SmartCap™ Technology. BioCoat is a 56% filled resin sealant that provides lasting wear protection with a compressive strength comparable to flowable composites. When dispensed, BioCoat's thixotropic thinning properties allow for deep penetration into the tightest pits and fissures for excellent adaptation and adhesion to the enamel.

SmartCap Technology, developed in partnership with Creighton University, utilizes patented semi-permeable resin micro-capsules. The rechargeable SmartCap micro-capsules are filled with ionic solutions of fluoride, calcium and phosphate, which diffuse in and out of sealant. The ions supersaturate the oral environment around the enamel, which provides extra line of defense against demineralization during acid attacks. The extended release of remineralization ions provide long-term protection while strengthening enamel and sealing margins against micro-leakage. Unlike with glass ionomer, there is no degradation of the restoration resulting from the fluoride release.
